Pumpkin Still-Life (4 in 1)
Students will learn and demonstrate four unique art styles in one completed still-life artwork.
This project was done around Holloween so finding pumpkins were easy. Students examined the pumpkins up close and paid close attenton to its shapes, colors, and lines. Next demonstrate the four different styles the student will need to know. Pointillism, oil pastel, watercolor, and black & white. Have the student divide their paper into four equal sections, to achieve this, lightly fold the paper in half vertically and repeat horizontally or just use a ruler. The students choose which style they would like in each section and used the pumpkin still-life as reference.
Special notes: Arrange the still-life in a way where all students have a clear view of it. If you have the space, setup the pumpkins in the middle of the classroom and have students positioned around it in a circle. This way, you will have a variety of artworks created at different viewing angles. Make sure you use an interesting composition for the still-life. Use a few pumpkins of varying shapes and sizes, use colorful leaves (real or fake) to add to the scene.
Supplies: Paper, pencils, erasers, ruler, colored markers (pointillism), black markers, oil pastels, watercolor paints, brushes, paper towels, cups of water, mixing tray
